Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

switching quarq between bikes

I really want to upgrade from a powertap to a quarq so I dont have to trade off between training w/ power and having race wheels without.

Would it be easy to switch the quarq between a road bike and a TT bike?

Can't you swap the SRM between bikes?

Also, umd swaps his quarq between bikes all the time. It takes him 5 minutes to do so.

Yeah, pretty much. I wouldn't swap a square taper one too much, but an octalink or an outboard bb crank can be swapped pretty fast.

All you need is another wiring harness. The advantage of the quarq is that all of them are wireless, so you just swap your crank and your garmin instead of having to buy new wiring and such, unless you have the new super expensive SRM.

As long as you have the magnet already set up on both bikes, swapping the quarq is as simple as swapping cranks. Without swapping the BB, this could be a 5 minute switch if swapping similar cranks and no FD adjustment is necessary. If you do need to swap BB cups, add in another minute or two depending on how willing you are to get messy.

Yeah, just put the same bb's on all your bikes and swap cranks as needed.

Unless you need triples, compacts, and doubles on different bikes, where a powertap setup might make more sense.

If you just need a double, I'd totally rock an SRM/quarq setup on both bikes with the same crank.
