What's the old man's age you are referring to? I'm 55 and have bikes made of steel, aluminum and CF. My CF is a 07' Roubaix Expert. My newest bike is a aluminum 08' Trek cross bike. What kind of bike frame do you think I should ride on?

Oh that was just a half-a** attempt at a clever title to get some comments. I forgot to mention that I ride titanium and I'm 58.

I'm 51 and I mainly ride my Ibis Titanium Road, which essentially proves the OP's point.
That being said, I'll pwn 98% of you Freds on my Cervelo S2, if it should ever actually materialize, and if and when it does, you shall all, every single friggin one of you, every Road Nazi, Fred and Weenie here, Rue the Friggin Day.
This cannot be overstated. And even if it can, I'll keep saying it.

Will the air displaced by you zooming past be enough to knock me off my bicycle? I just want to make sure so I can start riding my heavier steel bike instead of my CF bike.

I'm not quite as old as the previous geezed out posters (only 49). I traded in my 07 Orca for a

Ah yes, steel is real. I like the ride and it climbs well!

I'm forty-seven-and-a-half, in my own mind I'm no where near old. I've got an aluminum hybrid, a carbon Madone, and a titanium seven. I like all of them. The hydrid is sadly neglected of course. But back before winter struck, sometimes I would stand in my living room for half an hour staring at my road bikes, trying to decide whether I was in a carbon mood, or a titanium mood. My son and my dog are conspiring to have me commited, but I think its a GREAT problem to have.
If anything, I would think the vibration dampening properties of carbon would make it more attractive than titanium to the aged and infirm. Or maybe its like all the old guys you see driving Porsches and Ferraris - they're mostly the only ones that can afford it. I know if it hadn't been the deal of a lifetime, I wouldn't own the titanium bike I have.

45, Ti. Liked the way it felt on bad pavement. Liked the fact that it's unpainted, doesn't rust and scratches buff out.
And, this may sound a little chicken, but I'm more comfortable wrenching on metal as opposed to CF.

Of course, while most of us in a thead like this try to convince the world that we're not old, absolutely no one under 40 has a clue what "rue" means. Its either a street in France, or something you make gravy out of it, which compounds the problem by increasing our too-fat-for-this-sport-ness.

I think Friggin was one of the characters in Lord of the Rings.

I have steel and carbon; my next will likely be titanium because I like variety. The gf isn't so crazy about that but I won't tell if you don't.

I find this funny my dad has a Costume Spectrum Titanium and hes 60 10 years ago when he bought the bike when he was 50 he left CF frames. I don't know his reasoning but in 10 years he has put on over 100,000 miles so he obviously loves his bike and biking in general.... maybe its the TI

Also 45, also ti.
But I'm immature, and look, er, 39. Perhaps I can still get one of those new-fangled plastic bike frames?
Motto: Don't rue your age.
PS -- why do older riders go for ti?
Because they can afford it whereas a 22 year old can't?
Because they've learned to value quality?
Because they know that something that's, uh, er, juuuuust a little softer than the hardest material is still going to work?
Because they are saving their joints?
