Has anyone ever cracked a carbon wheel by JRA?
Many of the carbon wheel failures I see are due to people hitting potholes at high speeds. Is it possible to crack a carbon wheel without a sharp impact, such as hitting a crater or jumping off a curb?

If you wear down your carbon braking surface too thin, it can weaken the structure and ultimately crack. I got such a crack on an older Zipp 303 rim.

Well, if you hit a "crater" or jumped off a curb, then you weren't really "JRA."

I used to have a Ksyrium and now I'm riding Reynolds carbon clinicher(46mm).
When I hit potholes with ksyrium, tires got flat and wheel had bent slightly.
From my group riding, I have hit so many potholes with Reynolds. They hold very well. I never had flat or crack, just one spoke were broken.
So from my experience, carbon rims hold some rough riding very well.

the answer is yes
you, the owner, are responsible for inspecting your wheels before and after every
ride. I have seen brand new carbon wheels / carbon spokes shipped to bike shops,
installed, inspected, and everyone missed a flaw. then later JRA bam something gives

Had a pair of Zipp 303's (circa 2003) that developed cracks at the spoke nipples after a couple of years of use. Zippp replaced them under warranty.

I should add I got hit by a car when I had my Reynolds DV46Ts on. Broke my ribs, wheels fine. I've been hit by cars similarly that destroyed various sets of Ksyriusm...
