question about computers

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

question about computers

i have a Cateye Velo 8 on my road bike now (which i love). Having several bikes, i'd like to be able to know my speed/miles/etc on other bikes as well. If i were to buy another (or several) Velo 8's, does anyone know if i can just swap the one computer between "pods?" In other words, keep a total milage and averages over the course of a week or month on one computer, but between multiple bikes? If not the Velo 8, is there another computer that does such a thing? thanks!

Usually you can buy extra wheel sensors and mounts, and then you can swap it among bikes. But keep in mind that if you use different tires your calibration will need to be redone between each bike. Many computers have settings for two bikes, if you need more than that you would have to do it manually, or use a number that is close enough to all and just be a little off for any of them.

Contact Cateye. Ask for a "second bike kit"

I should add that the Garmin Edge series is very nice for this. I swap mine among several bikes (4 now, going on 5). It doesn't need any sensors, it goes off GPS. Just get a $10 mount for each bike, or a stack of zipties and move the mount around too. The 205 and 305 are pretty cheap these days.
