Quick question.... Buying a CAAD9

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks.

For my money, that's the very nicest looking CAAD -- perhaps one of the nicest looking paint jobs out there. Subtle.

If I decide to get just a frame, that's the one !

I've seen the black in person and it's a fabulous matte black. And I don't think it's paint. I'm pretty sure it's annodized, which would also make it a more durable finish. I have the white/red, but that's just me.

If you are both new to cycling make sure to take her with you for a fitting. I realize it's an xmas gift, but if she isin't fitted it will be an unused gift. They are great bikes but another brand of same money may fit her better.

I thought I had found a good deal at the last possible chance of getting my wife a bike before xmas. Then I post thread and I'm told it's not what it is. Btw... I don't blame anyone for saying that. It really doesn't look anything like what it is described as. So I call this guy back in San Antonio and ask him if he bought it new. Ad didn't specifically say the word new. Oh yeah he says, I bought Oct 13th. Really nice guy who is a Realtor and I can't believe he is gonna play games with me.

So I drive 2 hrs. to San Antonio and bought the bike from a guy named Smiley... With a name like that you either perfectly honest or a murderer.

Here's the link to the Ad.. I paid much less.

The Bike

The bottom bracket tag which kinda shows T = '08.

nanomite...it "looks" like you have the 09 caad9-6 in charcoal grey...they do photograph strange....i am not positive on the year...but either way it looks like you did get an awesome deal....i hope you did this before the purchase but check for dents or cracks on the frame and especially that fork. and congratulations on getting the bike that was pretty much voted bike forums bike of 2008!.....cant wait for mine

edit- oh yeah photograph that bad boy from the drive side (it would be your right side if sitting on it) so we can get a look at the components...

While I like the silver paintjob, I think I prefer the 'naked Al' with a clearcoat.

Hot bike though. I hope your wife loves it

Here is my CAAD9 7 in matte black, the bike is pretty incredible.

The bike you bought is a 09 CAAD9 6 with bar tape that has been changed from it's original color. Otherwise everything else screams 09. It should be Tiargra RD, Shifters and Crank and Sora FD. Although I think that may vary bike to bike because my 7 came with tiagra FD.

Great bike i'm sure your wife will really enjoy it..

BTW the stock saddle is an ass hatchet. Replace it if you love your wife.

Yeah.... I'm new and I bought that bike based on the opinions express here in that BF bike of 08 thread . I just wish I had researched here before I bought my bike. The Tiagra stuff shifts better on her bike than my Ultegra stuff and I was really impressed by the fact that her brakes actually work..... like really well.

I think I need to get a tune up on my bike now......

Nice color Jess! I like that better than the silver gray. And yes... she has already asked for a different seat.
