Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

sidi/specialized shoe size conversion

How do sidi to specialized shoe sizes compare? For example, would a 42 sidi fit a 42 specialized?

You may need to step down a half size to a whole size with the Specialized. I wear a 46 Diadora and needed a 45.5 in the Spec. Sidis fit me about a half size too small, so I'd take a 46.5 in Sidi.

https://www2.bsn.de/Cycling/shoe-sizing.html might help you out, assuming that the shoes makers have stayed with the same approach to sizing since the table was created.

Might be worthwhile to try some on before buying (and, if you do buy on-line after fitting them at the LBS, at least buy some other stuff to keep them in business)

SIDI does have the narrow, regular, mega width size options in the middle-of-the-line Genius and Dominator shoes.

I just went from the Sworks to the Sidi Ergo II's and i have the same size for both. try them on and see.

Keep in mind the fit of the shoe is most inportant from the heel to the ball of your foot not the over all length. you might have more room left over in the toe box or less depending on the build of your foot.

I went down a half size when I got my Specialized mtb shoe vs. my Sidi road shoe, but after using it for a while I think it was too small. Most of my teammates have said they use the same size. I just ordered a Specialized road shoe in the same size as my Sidis, so I guess I will find out soon...

Half sizes?

I think I was probably twelve the last time I had the option of buying a half-size. Must be nice.

44.5 sidi. 44 specialized. The normal sidi's are narrow as well.

That was my experience too, when I was shopping new shoes a couple years ago.

This is one thing that the US Congress must fix. Make sizing across bike stuff consistent. For me Sidi 43.0 = 42.0 or 42.5 in Specialized. Go with Northwave and you will need a 41. Gaerne a 42.5. Diadora it totally depends on the model. Nike pretty much what the box says in US size.

Also Congress should require all handlebars to be either measured C-C or O-O.
