Making a kilometer blurry
It's actually a pretty cool shop, just expensive. Not really "overpriced," but they have a lot of high end gear. This is funny:

Is it a boutique shop or a shop shop? All high end bikes right? I'd love to go there some day. But for now, I'm taking advantage of the low 60's. Weather we in SFL wait for all year. I'll be in Austin in May/June however.

They had a bike swap a couple months ago, and I got some great stuff really cheap, including some old 32cm bars for my son. Since they hosted such a great event, I thought I'd see about leaving some money with them inside...
The first thing I picked up was a $400 set of handle bars. On an end cap. Not locked up. Ok, kids, get in the car, and don't touch anything on the way out.

I was hoping they would be selling the T's that the employee's wear, that say "Actually, it IS about the bike".

It's also a fair sized shop, so they have a lot of stuff. Still, I doubt they have PowerTap harnesses in stock, or 9-speed 105 cassettes. I could be wrong though. They're going for the $100k/yr+ crowd that like to ride.

It's definitely worth a visit when you're in Austin.
Just don't expect PBK pricing. For example, it's the only shop I know of that actually stocks a full line of Rapha gear.

Well, you can't get that t-shirt anywhere else for less money. It's not overpriced. Same with Rapha, at the brick-and-mortar price level. Their tubes and patch kits probably cost the same as anywhere else in town.

It's a really cool shop, with lots of high-end stuff. If I was a cycling ******, I would shop there all the time. I stopped in the check out the store when I was visiting Austin over the holidays and bumped into The Man himself, there just hanging around the store. Got him to autograph a jersey that now hangs in my apartment. Awesome experience.

I'll be there March 11th. They are the staging area/host for the Soldier Ride for the Wounded Warriors Project. I'm leaving Dallas on Sunday the 8th and should be pedaling into Austin sometime Tuesday evening.
I've been wanting to see the shop for awhile now. I hope they have a Team Rapha Condor jersey/shirt that doesn't cost $300. Not that anyone is going to mistake me for a team member while I'm on my Condor.
