My failure is purely motivational right now. I'm having a hard time dragging myself out to the garage, and it's too cold (I know, get over it) to ride outside.

I'd drag the trainer into the living room, but I like being married.

I suppose dragging the wife into the garage so you can ride in the living room probably wouldn't go over well.

Today I squeezed some ride time in before the day started. I left my house at about 5:30 a.m. It didn't start getting light out until I was on my way home.

I drag my trainer into the living room and watch race DVD's at high volume so I can hear them. Wife doesn't mind. Often when I finish and go shower, she'll switch the bikes and do a ride herself.

Get a space heater, put it on it's highest setting and set it in front of your fan in the garage so the fan blows the warm air over you. Wear leg warmers and a long sleeve jersey and dress like it's 40 degrees. Nobody says you have to ride with just shorts and short sleeve shirt on the trainer. That's what I do when it gets cold in the garage in the winter. I have a big box fan that I put on it's lowest setting to keep from getting that "envelope" of hot air around me and a space heater in front of it to raise the temp of the air blowing on me. It's like riding outside on a 45-55 degree day, which is fine as far as I'm concerned. I dress with knee warmers and a long sleeve polypro shirt (rather than messing up one of my jerseys).

My wife offered to let me ride in the living room. I declined because, while I know she is looking out for me, I don't think she quite knows what it all entails, what with the noise and sweat.

I hear ya, dude. It's been a rough year here, too. Make sure you take care of that little lady, your marriage is important. I made a few sacrifices last year, but now she's taking care of me since my shoulder surgery. Sometimes we want to ride more than anything, but family comes first! Hang in there...

Best knockoff thread title in awhile

We used to do the Wednesday night trainer rides at the LBS last year. She's getting over a broken foot right now.

I just checked. It's 32 degrees - in the garage :(

The shame is that she's probably let me bring the trainer in if she could ride as well. But her bike doesn't fit - she's got a hybrid, and I just can't get the thing on there.
