Which is worse for brake pad type on rim????
Here is my dilemma! I realize that certain brake pad types should come in contact with carbon rims; specifically cork. when I put my trainer wheels on which are aluminum clinchers is it OK to leave the cork pads on there, or should I change the pads every time to fit the rim type? Thanks!

If you're riding indoors on the trainer and don't really use your brakes, it probably won't matter. Otherwise, you should always change your brake pads. Honestly, I would do it anyway, so it's just part of the wheel-changing routine. You don't want to forget it at the wrong time.

The issue is aluminum bits from your rims getting into your brake pads and then destroying your carbon ones when you switch back.

Zipp says its ok to use their pads (which are made by koolstop) on both carbon and aluminum rims.
Simply check for al shards when you move from al to carbon.
I've been using them, changing out al rimmed training wheels, and cf race wheels for more than a year and haven't noticed any problems on the carbon wheel.

Bonty reccomends cork for their carbon rims. Zipp does not. plus one for jccaclimber. Keep the pads clean of any type of grit for best results.
