Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: two wheeled ones

I'm planning on a Quarq and a full carbon deep racing wheelset (40-50 mm). We'll see whether it happens.

Bikes: Expensive ones that I ride slowly

2009: The Year to F*** The Recession or be F***** by It.

I'm hoping it's the former for me (and you guys too). This'll be Recorded (decked out in full Record) and ready for picking up tomorrow.

But to keep The Recession and unemployment from sacking me I'll be working like a Hebrew slave, so who knows when I'll actually be able to ride it.

Bikes: 2009 Spooky (cracked frame), 2006 Curtlo, 2002 Lemond (current race bike) Zurich, 1987 Serotta Colorado, 1986 Cannondale for commuting, a 1984 Cannondale on loan to my son

My freakin' 25 year old Performance rain pants no longer are waterproof so I just bought some "bling bling" Castelli rain pants. It is sad that the rain pants I will be wearing commuting in the rain will be worth more than the rest of the clothes I'm wearing combined.

I have 25 year old Performance Gore Tex rain pants (and matching jacket). My wife wears them all the time. They have held up. They remain water proof.

The ones I am talking about are the lower price point ones.

At one time I had the Goretex ones you are talking about and I couldn't stand them. They were so freakin' hot that I would get soaked from my own sweat instead of the rain. I'd rather be wet from the rain. I think that I gave them away.

I'm dumping all my campy 8- and 10-spd record and chorus on ebay and buying new 11-spd chorus at pbk next week.

To stimulate the economy, and whatnot.
