Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thank you good samaritan for keeping my confidentiality. I think I reposted it correctly now. Although I don't know how to post pictures of my own personal photos, eg. (bikes, and so forth).

You're welcome.

The easiest way to post your own photo's is to upload them to www.photobucket.com and then post the img link here.

Just ordered my first carbon bike! A Franco Balcom road bike. Got in on a sweet frameset special. It comes with black and white paint graphics.

They offer custom paint as an option, thinking about going black with yellow accents. That would basically bring the price back up to the original price of frame.

That is an excellent first carbon bike. I have a teammate who used to have one and it was gorgeous. It got cracked in half during a crash though =/

Ouch, how'd that happen? What did your teammate think about the bike? My buddy put me on to Franco. He's been riding one for almost a year and loves it, so convinced me to pull the trigger.

He was doing a road race and some guy in front of him misjudged the corner and swiped his wheel, my teammate was okay but it basically cracked his top tube and downtube in half. He talked to Franco and they offered him a really good crash replacement option but he wound up picking up a different frame since his budget was small. While he had it, he absolutely loved it. It's hanging on his wall now

Its been a good month for me. My wife bought me a new mountain bike for my birthday.
2011 Scott Scale 29 Elite. Today I went to look at new shoes and came home with a new set of Black and White Sworks shoes and an new Sele Italia Saddle. I hope I like it, it sure was expensive. I have been hating my Arione lately.

SCORE made me faster

$30 Park Home Repair Stand PCS-1. SCORE!!!

It is an olive color which must mean it is a few years old. Clamp works great. After I used it today to adjust the front derailleur, it made me faster! I beat my world record to the top of Emigration Canyon by 4 minutes.

Great score for just $30! Man your derailleur most have been really poorly adjusted...funny, I've been able to adjust mine without a stand just fine. But a bike stand is good thing to have and for $30 you did good.

Clear frame and photochromic lenses. Fit great, sweat runs off away from lenses, but the frames are a bit heavier than I'm used to. Like it a lot so far. Fit me far better than the other 11 models of Oakleys I tried before I bought these!!!

Just bought another set of Kenda Kaliente tires for my Spinergy wheels I train on. The last set lasted a real long time, 3000-3500miles ride better, than the Krylions I have on my other bike that is my primary training bike. I think these are my new go to training tire. They also weigh just over 200g each.

I ordered another mini pump, a Topeak Road Morph with the small built in gauge from Performance Bike for $25. I'll try that one out and compare it with my other pumps, a SKS Raceday Carbon, and a Lezyne Road Drive. The Topeak is the cheapest of the three, but I'll have to wait for it since it's on backorder.

Soloist Assassin; I use the Kenda Konstrictor tires and like them way better then Conti 4000s. One of the Kenda sets now have 2000 miles and still look great and no flats. I bought 4 pairs of these when I got a closeout for $18 a piece. Now if I can just get some Latex tubes on closeout.

Scott S60 Speedster off Craigslist for my 17yo daughter who needed a road bike so's she could keep up with her reincarnation-of-Jeannie-Longo little sister. :-) Bike's got a couple scuff marks and it'll need a new chain before long but other than that it's in pretty good shape, and it fits my teeny teenager like the proverbial cycling glove. Yeah!

Tifosi. Almost all the frames are very well made with a cyclist position in mind. 3 things kill most riding glasses for me: 1. The lenses accumulate too much crud once sweat and water dries over them making it difficult see, 2. Frame's top sit too low on the face, so when you look up while on the hoods to see further ahead, 2/3 ofthe view is obstructed, 3. When I turn my head to look behind me and I find part of the frame obstructing my view. None of those happen for me with Tifosi but happens with all Oakleys I have tried to date.

Yeah, I really like those Kenda tires. Seriously thinking about putting their tubies on my 404s, but idk.... As for latex tubes, depending on how long of a valve stem you need, they have some Challenge Latex tubes on ebay. I really like them, but I need the 51mm ones for my Spinergy wheels.
