A used Chorus 10 34/50/170 UT crank and a new UT BB to mount it on. I'm done with FSA.

I got an Ultegra 6700 groupo (crankset, break calipers, brifters, rd and fd, cassete) for cheap and will update the Sekai.
I had a drop handlebar I got from eBay and waiting on a rear hub for 10 speed to arrive.
Need to get the spokes for rear wheel rebuild (my first time :o :twitchy:) and an blaze-on to clamp adapter for the fd.
It will be a fun rainy season :)

Always trust your gut. When I test rode both bikes, I really liked the Transonic, but went with the SL as be a better "all around" bike. Rode the SL for a couple of days and it just wasn't doing it for me. Swapped it for the Transonic, grinning from ear to ear. Just as comfortable as the SL, imo.

Returned the above fenders because they say they are for a 27.5x1.5" tire and my 650b X47mm are 1.8" tires. Thanks REI for not helping me at all.

Rudy Project Agnon with large, Rx bi-focal insert and photochromic lenses. Picked them up yesterday. Got a great deal because they were 2018 closeouts.

Nice! You should do a review of these once you've tried them out. I've been contemplating a pair of glasses with the inserts, but hesitant to try.

Haven't received them yet but just ordered a thermal jersey and tights from Pactimo. 31% off everything for Halloween using code PUMPKIN.

Wore them during my 1.75 mile commute this morning. Really like them. They are comfortable and really light. Despite looking into the sun a couple of times they really cut down the glare. They don't darken as fast I imagined they would, but I am fine with that because I don't like really dark glasses unless it's blindingly light out. The distance and reading portions are perfectly sized for me. I only need the latter to read cue sheets and the computer. I do need to pop out the insert and give it a good wiping since it was handled so much during the fitting process.

I had been using a cheap quality (though not inexpensive) set from China. The corner of one side of the insert broke after only a couple of years. Got a second pair and the same thing happened in about the same time frame. Also, on both pairs the surfaces of the inserts and the lenses seemed to degrade over time.

Whats the quality of that material? Years ago I had bought a couple of Chinese jerseys, and they were absolutely horrendous.

Got a Lezyne Mega XL computer (the kit version with the speed + cadence and HRM). Have it hooked up to my bike and everything works. Will take it for a spin this coming weekend and will let interested people know how it worked out.

I'm guessing Chinese stuff can be all over the board; after all, it's a huge country with well over a billion people.

FWIW, I've bought a few jerseys/cycling outfits from AliExpress, and have been very happy with them. The outfit (shirt + bib shorts) from "Saibike" in particular was very nice. I also got a jersey from "Telegi" (or was it "Teleyi"? I forget), and I ordered the next larger size and it was too big (so much for that advice about buying a size larger...), so I got another one in my size (medium) and it fits just fine. The Saibike outfit I got in my normal size too, and it fits perfectly.

I'm not so sure about buying, for instance, bike lights on AliExpress, but bike clothes seem to be fine, and definitely far, far cheaper than what they cost for name brands here in the US while probably 80-90% as nice, which is good enough for me.

I'm still waiting on it to ship from China but I'll let you know once I get it. Interesting comment about material quality. I only have one other cheap Chinese jersey and the material is actually pretty decent. It's soft and has a good amount of elasticity. Can't speak too much about the durability, though, since I have a ton of jerseys in rotation and it hasn't seen all that much action.

phtomita 11-07-18 11:22 AM

I went cheap when started biking last year and seems all my jerseys are Chinese made. I have Santic(pants), Spotti, Bpbtti (solid color jerseys), Inbike (gloves), Arsuxeo (jacket for cold - I know I can survive below 32 with it from recent riding on cold).
Can't say it is bad/good when compared with brand name stuff since never used them. I am happy with their quality and they are surviving well 2 seasons and regular washing.

Re: Chinese Jerseys/bibs

I have purchased many jerseys from China off eBay and the quality has been great. Bibs can be hit or miss because the stitching around the chamois can be rough and cause chafing. I have a couple that have been great.

The long sleeve fleece jerseys are also great. Same thing purchased stateside would run over $100. For this for $35 shipped https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...746a520f2.jpeg sh

That will look great, until it's washed a few times.

Then it will really be retro! lol

But to address the washing thing. I have other long sleeve fleece jersey's that I have bought and they have not faded yet after several washings.
