Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

bike parts inflation

A week after I got a pair of 105 brakes for £49, the prices were adjusted to £70. Couple months ago I got 105 cranks for £65 now £133.

Is this jump seen in other countries or is it just a devaluation of £. Have the $ prices on uk online shops jumped like this when viewed from abroad?

Can't speak for others, but UK shops largely look more appealing to me as the exchange rate currently has become more favorable to the US, shipping and duty amounts excluded. Part of what you might be seeing could also be partially explained by increasing prices due to an increase in fuel costs.

UK prices are down substantially when viewed from the US, mainly due to the lb going in the toilet relative to the $. I've bought a pair of $140 carbon handlebars (list $265 in the US), $30 tires (list $52 in the US), $100 bibs ($235 list) from UK dealers in the past couple of weeks. Some of these have been on sale, but the exchange rate has just made the deals sweeter. There are some other outrageous deals out there ($19 for quality jerseys) that I haven't hit yet.
