Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's pretty nasty. No Alpe d'Huez, but nasty. There's a nice little climb just across the river from where I live. About a mile, 571 feet of altitude gain (according to mapmyride, again), 12% average grade. It lulls you into a false sense of security with about an 8% average grade for the first half, then you round the hairpin turn and it sucker-punches you with what must be a 15% or so average grade to the top. Parts of it push 20%. I wouldn't want to climb that every day.

They should make that hill a stage on the Centenarian+ TdF.
