I feel like a cheapskate. My BMC ProMachine with Ultegra SL and Mavic ESs came to less than $5k. Idea was to upgrade to DA 7900 but having tested it I didn't bother.
Alex mate, did BMC fly you to their factory for a wind tunnel test? I hear that's included in the frame price.

phallenthoul, what kind of saddle is that? That looks like the shape I need. Local stores have a sparse selection and the online stores never seem to want to show a profile view. It's that dip in the middle that I need.
BTW, thanks for making me feel cheap!

Hi,
I paid over $6K for this without the wheels (I bought the wheels in 2003 for $950 brand new):
And I didn't pay retail for any of it.
I spent less than $4K on this (less the wheels which were less than $2K):
But I sold a bike (no more N+1 per the Mrs.) for $1,400 just before getting this one. So out of pocket was even less.

Which makes me extra glad I didn't pay retail for any of it. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to afford the final build.

The frame clocked in at @3200 which is pretty good for the CF they use. The rest was eaten up primarily with the Record build out. The bar was over 300 as well.
I got my frame at that cost because it was not custom. With my size, customer just was not needed. That would have added a K or 2 to the cost.
How is it?
Perfect. For me. I notice a differnce between this bike and my Ti primarily in two instances: steep long climbs and curvy descents. Both of which we have plenty of around here. In fact, thats about all we have. Well, we do have some short steep climbs. The PARLEE reads my mind on the downhills and responds immediately on the climbs.

Modified Vuma Chrono?
Maybe they are using an Ergomo with their Vuma Chrono (thus a need for square taper).
Either way, looks like a Vuma Chrono.

Factory Direct Pricing
Other online retailers are selling comparably equipped ___________ $6,000 and up. Your local ____ dealers are selling these for $4,000+. The frame and fork alone are listed at $2400 MSRP.
Compare to $10,500 Trek or Specialized.

lol!
Commuting in Omaha would be a beotch! Everything requires you to take the interstate or "way-out-of-the-way" back roads. Plus 3 bikes is enough. Four, if you count the Orbea I'm selling.

My car's worth exponentially increases when I put my bike in there. Any bike.
Some of my small bike parts cost half as much as my car.
Here's my Giant. About $6k as she sits. I shouldn't discuss how much I paid (or didn't pay) on here. People might get mad again.
