Dialing in a Fizik Aliante

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Dialing in a Fizik Aliante

Tough saddle to get right. It's shorter than my current saddle so how do I set it up so that it's in the same position relative to the BB? I measure my Bontrager saddle from the stem clamp to the nose of the saddle at 20". On the Aliante it seems as though 20" puts me to far forward. Also, does this saddle need to be nose up to keep you seated in the sweet spot?

On your old set up, you could drop a line from your knee, to check your relative position to the pedal at 3 o'clock, then in the new setup just move the saddle forward to match this setting.

Most saddles are designed to be ridden perfectly level, I'd use a carpenters level and make small adjustments to the level from there.

Not sure thats possible with this one due to the way the rear turns upward. My Bontrager is dead flat. If I put the Aliante level then the curve in back pushes me forward.

What I meant was nose to tail level, so in the case of the Aliante the nose would be up more than a flatter saddle. From the picture only the nose and the tail are level

I set it up front to back level. For/aft took me 3-4 tries moving it millimetres before it was perfect.

The Aliante is nothing like the Arione.
It has a V cut in the back that makes a level measurement difficult.
I use a yardstick on edge, and have a very slight nose up as it sits from the center of the V to the center of the nose of the saddle. The fore/aft position is also much more critical because it is not nearly as flat.

I also nudged the nose up to get the Aliante to feel right. I love this saddle BTW.
