Teaching Math In the 1950’s: A cyclist sells a bicycle for $100. His original cost is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit?
Teaching Math In the 1960’s: A cyclist sells a bicycle for $100. His original cost is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?
Teaching Math In the 1970’s: A cyclist sells a bicycle for $100. His original cost is $80. Did he make a profit?
Teaching Math In the 1980’s: A cyclist sells a bicycle for $100. His original cost is $80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20.
Teaching Math In the 1990’s: A cyclist owns and sells many bikes because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the earth’s scarce resources required to manufacture his bicycles. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for forum participation after answering the question: How did the vehicular traffic feel as the cyclist lobbied for increased bike lanes in their cities? (There are no wrong answers.)

Teaching Math in the 2000's: Diebold runs a thousand-dollar a plate fundraiser for the GOP, while the owner pledges to do 'everything possible to get republican votes.' Diebold then releases voting machines that they swear are technically unable print a paper trail, hackable with no trace within 5 minutes - and are installed heavily in swing states. Exit polls in some counties showed voting results as overwhelmingly democrat, but the Diebold machines tallied indicated negative votes for democrats.
The question: how many times an hour does Fox news suggest Obama is a muslim terrorist?

I say 48% engine 48% mental, 2% equipment.
The reasons I put mental equal to engine: 1) you can't develop the great enginge without mental discipline, and 2) even with a great engine, without the mental ability to push yoursef, and the knowledge of how to use the engine tactically, it won't get you very far.
And the 4% equipment, assumes a certain baseline, above which there's limited ability to gain significant advantage.
The reason mental can't be greater than engine is because no matter how smart or how tough you are, if you don't have a certain level of power, you're going to be OTB. You can't fake watts.
