Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ciocc 12.5???

What's up with Ciocc? I'm on the market for a new frame and the 12.5 looked nifty. While trying to do some homework on the brand and bike I found a million review/praise hits on Google but they don't seem to have their own web page?? Was the brand discontinued or do they prefer to shroud themselves in mystery?

As a side note, the only place selling the frames is repartocourse.com. Does anyone have any experience with that merchant?

I have bought a frame from RepartoCorse. After I purchased it off the net. The owner Ed called my phone number within minutes.

He explained to me that he did not have that frame, in the size I wanted. He then gave me a much nicer frame at the same price point.

A big thumbs up for Repartocorse.

So far, I've found one review for a steel Ciocc, but it's the lighter EOM 16.5 Dedacciai.
I'll have another look

COM 12.5 is the same as ZeroUno tubing. Very good middle of the road tubeset. May be too thin for someone over 200 lbs. that likes to mash but for most people it's about perfect.

God, I sure miss my Ciocc. I saw that frame hanging in the LBS almost 30yrs ago and even though I was a piss poor student I had to have it to race on. I got it and found a complete top of the line Campy groupo super cheap off a bike buried locally in the mud slides of 1981 and I had my crit bike. It was true love till some bike thief ended our love affair…..

Not my bike, just an image of a bike with the same frame, off the internet. Mine was of course much better looking….Who took pictures back then?

Please don't buy the last 54cm frame! That's the one I'm going to buy if I can't get the seat post out of my current bike!

Smart Cycles and Keirin Culture also have/can get Cioccs. The importer is Zar International. I've heard that they are fantastic frames. Not too heavy, not too expensive, and with a really nice ride. they were built before Italian steel bikes suddenly got over the top expensive.

i have the 12.5, yeah it's dedacci. it's decently stiff, and a good ride. i like mine a lot - moved to it from a bianchi eros, and it felt like an actual "race" bike compared to the bianchi.

the LBS warned me about the paintjob, and how european paintjobs aren't known to be as lasting as asian ones. or something. no real issues there though, just one chip on the bottom of one of the chain stay (after a year of riding it).

it's a good bike, but i'd like to try out the EOM some day.
