wow, that is really nice. not sure if i have seen a navy blue neo primato before. i recently saw someone riding a green one that was beautiful...it's always a great frame. and though i generally do not like the gold rims, i agree they look good here. the selle san marco saddle looks a bit more contemporary than the retro look you are going for, but it may just be the angle of the photo - and when it comes to saddle you gotta go for what feels good.
post more pics when its complete, looks like a great build.

OK, here's my almost-finished Neo Primato:
All new components except for the saddle and Dura Ace shifters, brakes, and front derailleur:
Dura Ace 7800 shifters, brakes, derailleurs
Ultegra 6600 12-27 cassette (might be 12-25, I've had it around for a while unused)
Campagnolo Record 10-speed 53-39 crankset, bottom bracket, seat post, headset
Deda stem and bars
Selle San Marco Zoncolan saddle
Campagnolo Khamsin wheels
Still need to finish the rear derailleur cable since the rear derailleur in the photo is not the final one - a new one is being delivered. And obviously add a chain and pedals.
I was aiming for a real retro look, but without compromising on using the latest technology, hence the Dura Ace 7800 components. I wanted a goodly amount of chrome/silver, and all the latest Campy Record is black carbon.
The gold wheels? They just seemed to me to be "right".
And I've yet to take a photo that does the blue paint on the frame justice. It's really a deep, rich blue that I just haven't been able to capture.

I think it might be the same frame. The Nuova Alloro is built with the Bianchi proprietary Columbus tubing. I suppose that it's comparable to straight gauge 531. I think that Bianchi used heavier gauge tubing on the down tube supposedly for handling/ride quality. The components are Campagnolo Triomphe except the headset which is nice alloy Gipiemme. In the photos, the wheels are recent Sun M13 with circa 1975 high flange Nuovo Tipo hubs that are destined for another project. The bike came with Triomphe hubs and Ambosio rims -- decent quality wheels. One nice thing about the bike is that it can easily handle 28mm tires with room to spare. 32mm might be pushing it.
Yeah, it's not the best or lightest frame that Bianchi made in the late 80s, but I have absolutely no complaint about it. It rides like a dream and the components, even the stupid single action side pull brakes, function flawlessly.

I bought my wife's in 87 as a leftover and paid $400 for it. I'd hoped we'd start a lot of riding but we ended up having our third baby instead, so it sat around in the back of the garage along with my 73 Holdsworth, which I've had since new. We ran for exercise until three years ago until my knees started creaking, so I finally did fix them up and put some used Ebay Campy on hers. We now ride a lot and she loves her Bianchi.

Me ca 1991 on my work bike of the time. 1990 Giordana road frame. Columbus Cromor. Campy bits. Single speed. Straight bars.
This was my all time favorite bike. Photo is not my actual bike, b/c mine was stolen ...
1990 Basso Ascot. Mine had all Dura Ace. The "B" and "O" decals fell off on one side prompting everyone to say "Nics A S S ".

I've seen that De Rosa a bunch of times, but it always impresses me. Normally don't like gold parts, but those rims look great. What a classy bike!

It looks so pristine. Have you had it since new?

Not spectacular compared to a lot of bikes in here. I've recently updated the derailleurs and shifters to shimano 6400 (600 tri-color), and replaced/overhauled everything else.

Single Speed designed by Marco from a Formigli steel frame
Marco in a small town in Tuscany called Ruffina specializes in single speed steel frames. His favorite frame to build off of is Formigli. One of these frames will be all done up for the Best Bikes of Monte Carlo June 2011 as one of only 30 bike companies chosen to expo at the event. There will be another one built out for display at Interbike at Formigli's booth in the Italian Village.

Beware of orange and digital imaging. Much of the range of the color orange is outside of what can be represented with RGB (or any derivative system). There's always a good chance that an orange item won't look right when you take a digital image of it.
So don't fall in love with an exact shade of orange on a website.
Master X Light 2009 with 2009 Chorus 11 speed group
I asking about one of these frames next door at Road Cycling. Is the colour PRM0 / Molteni? Looks a little darker than the one on the Colnago website, but if that's the real colour I love it even more.
(And so do my wife and her best friend... designers, both with impeccable taste!)
