Boron is a nice next uber material. Some bike products already have some in them.

Hed's R1c road frame looks like that. It's what happens when you sand uni and the weave isn't all in the same direction hence forth Campy's cranks and other frames.

Dye doesn't weigh much or cost all that much. Hed's has put black dye into some of their stuff (disks IIRC)

Those hoods may not have been full carbon. If you see black one direction and a color the other way, the material is probably colored kevlar going one way and carbon going the other. I've worked with that stuff a little bit and it looks pretty cool.

Hey, you're right! So, to paraphrase Phil Liggett, it's a Thousand Ladies Dancing On The Pedals.

That's gotta be a Ruegamer frame, no?

re: dye-impregnated carbon, does anyone know if that's how Crumpton does his colored frames, or does he just use translucent paint?

Done that. Jamis Eclipse frames from 2003 through 2007 or 08.

I am surprised that they haven't introduced a dye/pigment into the resin

It is my understanding that this was done via tinted clearcoat.

I'm not sure who does that frame, but I know Brano Meares (BME) was the first to do the "invisible" tubing.

And as much as I respect what Craig Calfee is doing, his frames are ass-ugly. If they didn't have that ugly webbing in the lugs it might be a little bit better.

I think Calfee's shout quality. Some think a Mercedes Benz is an ugly car too.

I had drafted designs for a new super-material bike and my company just built the first prototype
