Ultimate iPod action
The new iPod Shuffle is the jam. No buttons to get in the way in your pocket and it weighs less than one ounce. Sweet!

You buy the Belkin adapter for whatever ludicrous price they, in collusion with Apple, decide to charge.

I think its a total fail with the lack on controls.
Yes the controls on the earbuds is nice, but the newer style apple buds fall out of my ears. The style before the current earbuds fit my ears fine and still use them.
$80 for the shuffle, $30 for 3rd party remote = price of a nano (almost)

Nice!
But I've been using Macs since '87 and have countless iPods and an iPhone so what else am I going to say? Doing some quick math, I've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on Apple computers and products over the past 20 years. I should point that out to my wife when she complains about a $10k bike!

Why would you want to see an iPod video display when you're jogging or cycling? I use playlists or just choose the 'shuffle' mode when I'm using the Shuffle anyway. You can't beat it for $49. I clip it to my bib strap and I can operate the Shuffle right through the Lycra on my jersey like a Star Trek communicator. Cool.

I've had a bunch of iPods but the Shuffle is the one I use all the time. I like the older one more than the newer one for a number of reasons, starting with those new remote controls on the cheesy Apple headphones, which I don't use. The $10 Radio Shack headphones are 1/3 the price and 3x better.

You can listen to music with third party headphones but you surrender control. Someone like Griffin will make a headphone adapter to add inline controls.

We have two or three of these rattling around the house. 512mb, AAA battery, and about $15 each refurb'd.

At least Apple is being *slightly* reasonable with the price on the new Shuffle. I could potentially get used to no display, but the proprietary controls kill it for me.
