Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Which Wheelset? Easton EA70 or Mavic Ksyrium Elite

which one and why? Mavic's are a little more $ but not sure if they are worth it?
I'm also looking at Fulcrum Racing 5's. These are the top three for me.

thanks

Custom build!
Kinlin rims with some White Industries hubs would be better than any of those sets!

How about just Easton in general? Are there any Easton owners that can talk about the quality of their wheelsets.

I use Easton SLs for daily training. They hold up pretty well to CA's lousy roads with asphalt spalling, ruts, cracks, etc. I think I last trued them about 2,000 miles ago and they're fine. Not the lightest mind you, but good.

I also have a set of Easton Circuits that are more for competitive riding and long rides. They're lighter and I suspect more delicate as a result so I don't ride them as often but they've held up very well so far also (knock wood).

I find the overall build quality of Easton to be very, very good.

I would go for the ea70. The racing 5 might be a bit more aero with its lower spoke count, but it certainly doesn't feel as nice when cranking out of the saddle as the ea70. I used to train on the Fulcrum 5, now I'm on the ea70. No experience with the mavics, though.

Oh, FWIW I did have Mavics on my old bike (the one that got ripped off). They were (I think) heavier than the eastons but very durable too. Askium not Kyserium though.
