Female Cyclist in the DC, MD, VA area??

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

OP - You're probably a cool guy and all, and no doubt your interest in finding a female cyclist in your area is for strictly platonic purposes, but I'm afraid you stepped into shark infested waters here. One wrong move and you're shark crap. If you want to prove your sincerity, you'll stick around and find a way to swim back to shore.

That's pretty uncalled for. How do we know you're not the creep and you're just making a statement for plausible deniability purposes?

boy am I glad I checked my BF thread before I left to go home...

listen, for all of you out there who are juvenile, nosey, and/or just smart asses, the reason why I asked is because I was talking to a good friend of mine about getting into riding...she said she thought about it, but felt that it was a male dominated sport and didnt want to be subject to all that same b**s**t some guys dish out. I told her that I would get on this "wonderful site called BF" and ask the SO HELPFUL road biking community if there were any female riders in the area....

So, she was obviously right.

^ Who wants to start the apology train?

In all fairness purefreedom, you should have stated your intent in the original post.

Answer: Every geographical region is different. Some places are better than others for supporting the cycling community, and for women cyclists specifically. There's quite a few websites that discuss many of those issues. One of them is www.velogirls.com. Hopefully, one of the fine lady cyclists reading this will post or PM you with additional information.

So why didn't you just post that to begin with? I guarantee this thread would have been much more successful if you had done so. Seriously, what did you expect with such a vague and creepy first post?

There are plenty of female cyclists in this area. ....but most of them are not on BF, because, well, you read this thread.

Get her on a bike!

I was kind of joking. My wife would kick his arse anyway.

If the OP intentions were honourable then I'd be glad to help his friend by introducing her to my wife, any of the other 3 or so women we ride with regularly, or the women's team at my club.

I'm female, and a roadie. I however realise its male dominated, I've always been a tree climbing mud flinging girl. I've likewise always played with boys, and thusly learned to talk crap worse than they do.

I would give my wife his friend's email address were he to provide it. I'm not talking about having them meet in a deserted alley.

if you actually wanted some kind of reasonable response, you should have asked something in english instead of text-eze.

That's cool. I might be moving to NoVa next Summer, probably Springfield area. Mayhaps we can all join up for a ride.

Might be tough, considering Wussyville is at least 500 miles from Springfield.
