I usually take an XL in a cycling jersey b/c I have a long torso. I always take an XL in a long-sleeve jersey if I want the arms to be anywhere near long enough.

When I see sizing charts for bibs, they indicate that I need an XL (at least) on top, but a L (at most) on bottom (waist is 33-34), which is what I wear for cycling shorts.

Are some bib brands longer in the torso than others? I don't need no baggy-ass bibs.

from my experience, hincapie's tend to be better for taller guys. his stuff is top notch as well. i am rather tall (6'1) but skinny (140) and find that sugoi's RS bib fits me well.

Cool, thanks for the info. I've been thinking of trying Hincapie. There are a couple different models of bib that I like the looks of, and I'm a fan of his anyway. I'll order something tonight.

I have the same problem (6'5", 185 lbs) and haven't bought bibs yet for that reason. They're not available yet, but soon these bibs from Aerotech Designs should be exactly what you need. I'm anxiously awaiting their release. If you could email them and post what they say that would be great, I've emailed them so much I think they're ignoring me.

I've known guys to cut V shaped notches in their bib straps to let them stretch farther. Just be careful if you go that route. Making it too thin in any one place can cause it to snap.

I have a long torso, though it sounds like I'm not as tall as you. I order bibs based on height more than waist measurement. I'm 5'10", 34" waist, and Giordana bibs fit me well in a L. Castelli stuff works better if you're thinner; they tend to have real long sleeves on their jerseys for a given size.

I also have this problem, 6'5" 185-200 lbs all torso, any longer torso'd bib recommendations would be swell.

I'm going to second the recommendation for Hincapie. I'm not quite as thin as above (6'4" at 200lbs) but the Hincapie bibs have the longest straps I've found, relative to the waist size (I'm a 34, Hincapie large fit excellent). I tried Pearl Izumi, Castelli, Specialized, Mavic, Performance house brand, Nalini, and Capo. Some of the Capo bibs I also found to fit well, but some have very short straps so those can vary.

Another vote for Aero Tech Designs - Stellar products, customer service, etc. - the stuff for tall guys is great.

Same here. The straps digging into my shoulders is 10X worse than any waistband irritation of regular shorts.

Frankly, I don't experience the waistband irritation problem I hear about at all.

Interesting subject and relevant to taller guys. I am 6'1" and 185#...and I have a med. long cycling inseam at 35" and therefore not an extra long torso...or didn't think...but the new PI P.R.O. bibs I bought have straps that are downright short...I wear XL. Hard to explain. They feel like they are tugging on my shoulders. Are nice bibs however and otherwise like the fit on my legs and chamois. I also have PI Elite bibs and the straps seem to be better length. What I have done is put the bib straps over something span to stretch them out over time which seems to be helping. I even considered cutting the straps and adding a couple of inches of fabric to each side but believe the stretching of the elastic straps over time will get it done.

Another vote for Hincapie - the straps feel like they are not even there. They do have a weird seam across the butt that is a bit unusual and annoying, but the straps make up for it.

I've also found the Pactimo Summit bibs to be pretty comfortable.

6'5" and happy with Hincapie. I want to give Boure a try, they will customize one of their bibs for extra tall people.
