New Cannondale 2000 for $500??

This web site is offering new Cannondale T2000's for $500.

https://warwick.8k.com/warwick4.htm

Anyone have any input to this? These are listed as "small" "medium" "large", etc. **********?

Are these any good? What components?

I assume this is a touring bike??

Yeah thats correct Denver they are touring bikes, Caad 3 frame, XTR rear der, XT front , Avid "shorty" cantilever brakes, Cane Creek C1 h/set , Coda sealed cartridge hubs , Dt spokes, Mavic T519 rims, Conti top touring tires, Coda expert crankset, Ultegra STI levers..etc , I think $500.00 is a VERY good price for a sweet touring bike !!

Denver, what size are you looking for? Please tell me its not the XL size! I think im going to move my life savings (er, ok, my fixed gear savings) to this T2000, what a deal! These are great bikes, a few members in the local touring club have them. Just add a brooks and your set.

Hmm, too good to be true? The website dosent have any contact information, and there email address, bon-bon.net is a thailand email address... his shipping address for WU payments, is in NY NY.

(s)he will only accept WU payments, anyone know about WU fraud, or what protection you would have by paying w/ WU?

There addess is:

Nat Warwick
2311 Fifth Avenue
New York, NY 10037

I did a search for "2311 Fifth Avenue", and came up with this address:
Sheltering Arms Day Care Centers
2311 Fifth Avenue
New York, NY 10037

Well, they claim to take Visa and MC. Each of these has a 30 day stop payment protection, I believe.

How did you get the 2311 address? I did a yellow pages saqrch for "Warwick *" and came up with nothing.

I sent them an email. They only take CC's via western union. western union has no fraud protection, once you send the payment, its gone. I sent another email, to see if he would take paypal, atleast paypal has some type of fraud protection.

Better yet, maybe we (i want the XL T2000!) can have a NYC forum member pick up the bikes and ship them to us. We have quite a few NYC forum members around here.

This has to be a SCAM. I'm not even going to go into all the ways this smells bad. The price is too good to be true. You can't get a T2000 used for this price. Now come on, this person is in NYC and can't find local cyclists to buy these bikes at these incredible prices. My local Cannondale dealer doesn't even stock the touring bikes. If you want one he'll order you one after he tries to convince you to buy one of the hybrids he has on the floor, but this former shop owner has several T2000's left over and doesn't have any of the lower touring models. I don't think so.

Take a look at the website. Where's the shop name and address?I know the shop has closed but surely we would be curious to know where the shop was located. This person doesn't seem to want to sell locally. Joe the site has Visa, Discover and Mastercard icons on it. Did you ask if you could use a credit card? The Western Union payment is extremely suspect.

Email service in Thailand. RED FLAG!!!

Then there's the name to send payment to. "Nat" could be Nathan, Nathaniel, Natilie, Natalia. You can't tell gender.

It'd be great if this is for real, but I highly doubt it.

I looked at the site. It does set off a bunch of alarms. The WU payment rerquirement sets off more.

Occasionally great deals do pop up. Unfortunately scams are alot mor common.

Send him an email from a different service with a different name and inquire about a mountain bike. If all of a sudden they're available you can lay all doubt to rest.......SCAM.

If he claims they're no longer available then maybe it's legit, hard to imagine a scam artist turning down another potential sucker.

Joe, I just sent off an email saying I want one of the large F700's. I also asked where the shop was previously located and said that I would prefer to pick the bike up in person if they are anywhere near New Jersey. I let ya'll know what I hear back. As I said before I wish that this was real but It sure seems like a scam. Especially the Western Union part.

Actually, we do not have the storefront any more so we will only ship the items,
but you are close so you will get it in a day or 2."

Strange, I was inquiring about a large f700 not a medium f1000sl.
Maybe this guys just mixed up. But he did tell Joe that the MTBs were reserved. And he doesn't seem to want me to come and pick the bike up and also never told be the stores name.

I've been going to bed wishing I lived in the US so I could buy one of these.

Sounds very fishy, though.

The photo of the bike on the sale page is the 2001 model (with sloping top-tube.) The photo of the 2000 model on the https://roadbikereview.com/ website is completely different.

Oh, well!
