I like the stock Giant tape that came on my bike. Better than cinelli. It's synthetic, I think, as theres no annoying cork dots. Not sticky, which is okay. I can wrap tape anyways so if it comes off no big deal. Really nice texture, not to skinny, not too thick. I bought a box of fizik in silver to put on. After I finished it I took it off before the first ride. Looks funny, being so skinny. Very uncomfortable, and all the little holes in it are annoying. Oh well, I'll hold on to it.

Are there any other more padded varieties that you guys can think of that can also be cleaned like the Fizik Microtex stuff?
I like the ease of wrapping of the Fizik tape, but don't completely like how it is without any padding at all. |
Don't ever buy the FSA Cork "carbon style" bar tape. It's slippery as hell.
Yes I bought the carbon style to save weight. |

EDIT: please tell me that you're feeling better by now cuz if not I will feel like a total ass.
BTW when is EC? It's gotta be soon. You ready? |
I did not find Fi'zi:k tape near as easy as cork to wrap. Maybe that's because we usually wrap cork at the shop, so I have a lot of experience with it and none with Fi'zi:k. Synthetic cork is better.

I've given up on white tape. Black, like my coffee and women please.

While I like the Roubaix tape, I love the Lizard Skins tapes. They clean up well to which is great for the lighter colors. http://www.lizardskins.com/products/...ine=bar%20tape
Yeah, I am a Fred. Then again, if you are still buying your own equipment, so are you. |
In all honesty I want as thin a bar wrap as possible because I want as "positive" a feedback as possible about the road surface. There ain't nothing more positive than Benotto tape, I tell you.;) The sad thing is that I will be getting a team bike and the free team bar wrap is some sort of black and white zebra tape. It isn't what I would spec. And I have been saving a very special set of PINK NOS Benotto tape for this whip. So, do I yield to team peer pressure and get the "team" wrap or do I install pink cello bartape? |
i use fizik microtex with no padding. i have never used padding, i wear gloves.
|
Highly subjective.
I love my Deda tape. Even in white, it's held up reasonably well for the past three seasons. I do wash gloves regularly though, so that helps keep it from getting filthy. |
