`underground` components?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

`underground` components?

hi,

i`m looking for components made by small or `underground` manufacturers - everything but frames - to review for a well-known cycling magazine. i`m trying to stay away from the well-known brands, so any new, funky or quirky products that you can recommend, and that are available for sale to the public, would be fantastic - even moreso if you`ve used them yourselves.

i`m searching myself for stuff but am sure there`s some gems i`ll miss. any tips much appreciated!

Extalite- Italian hub makes that make the lightest rear hub in the world.
Tune- German hub makers that make so of the lightest and strongest hubs available.
Protech Composites- American rim makers that make carbon clinchers that are light and very srong but inexpensive
Kinlin-Company out of Taiwan that makes arguably the best alloy rims available.
Soul Kozak- Another great hub maker out of Poland
Corima- Europe's Zipp
White Industries- American company that makes light weight, very stong, and Inexpensive hubs
Alchemy- American master wheel builder who is in the process of finishing what most all wheel builders consider to be the best hubs ever produced. If you write about any company make it Alchemy Bicycle works. These guys are the real deal.

Their website certainly screams underground, anyway.
