Continental GP 4000s
I just replaced a set of Continental Sport with Continental GP 4000S and rode them for the first time this morning. What a difference. The Sport were harsh, almost twitchy, the 4000S are very smooth and fast, much more stable and seem to have better grip. Downhills are much easier. I don't know about wear but so far I like them a lot. I was a little surprised how much difference there was between a low end and better quality tire. I guess I shouldn't be, as there us a difference in car and motorcycle tires as well.

The best thing about the GP4000's is that they don't flat. I have had 1 flat in the last 15,000 miles (probably just jinxed myself). I get about 4000 miles per tire and then use them on my indoor trainer for another 1000-2000 miles right down to the threads.
