Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I got that same HR monitor off of Woot , It fluctuates wildly at times, so don't take it too seriously until you've used it a bit a can tell when it's not reading right.

Now you're just being silly......70 bpm is in no way comparative to > 100 bpm for a 23 year old

EDIT: "Beam me up Scotty......"

It was more in response to your "If for instance, my normal HR sitting in a chair in a chatroom on the PC is say ...60 bpm ...but then it becomes 100 bpm.. then I can assume I've should get myself checked out by a duly qualified medical practitioner ... lemme check.......nup..still 51"

However I think we need to drop the "over 100" thing. OP already said he took it at his desk and it was 81. If my RHR is in the low 40s and it pops up to 70 while I'm sitting at my desk then 81 at his desk can't be too bad.

As long as mine is greater than 0 I don't worry about it. Then again, if it hits 0 I'm not worrying about it either, so I guess I just don't care.

Bawahaha yeah funny ;-)

Yeah I don't use a HRM...if everything turns to white I know I've over done it!

Cheers

Maybe the OP was just excited bacause he got a new HRM!

as someone with a tried and tested hummingbird heart, these things vary wildly. day to day, heat, sleep or lack thereof, etc.

i regularly see above 200. nothing wrong with my heart, have been looked at by a dr. after getting concerned by similar fears. EKG test says resting is 48. last weekend, saturday ride was 70 miles, sunday 25 and a brisk pace. on a stop sign sprint i saw 213, and was carrying a conversation at 200 when we went for it.

i'm 38...
