Worth $250?
A friend asked to me to see if this bike was a good deal for just commuting around. I know its not a road bike but I feel I could still get some valuable opinions here.

A 2009 7100 goes for around $440, so I think $250 isn't too reasonable. Should she start at $220 and see if she can get it for that?
Thanks

It's not bad, I guess. Especially considering that new Trek hybrids cost a sheetload these days. If it's in like new condition then $220-250 isn't bad for plain old low-key commuting.

Not that great. I got a 7.3 for less. Not too common, but that doesn't mean you should pay a premium because most are collecting dust in the garage.

Dude on the Classic and Vintage forum found a classic Cinelli for $40 at the Salvation Army store. Does that affect the prices of this collector's bike world-wide?
If $250 gets you a quality bike that is "as described" you've done good.
Now having said that it's silly not to shop around and there's definitely no harm at all in offering less than the ad and see what happens.

Nothing personal but those replies bug me. Someone always found it or less, got a better deal, blah, blah, blah.

I meant the "nothing personal" part. My post is proably stronger than it needs to be though so, "nothing personal."
It just seems that every time someone is posting about trying to buy a bike there's always replies to the effect of: "Hit the garage sales, I found one for 10$." Well OK but that's not alot of help to the OP.
We are in accord about offering less and I should have started my post with that......
