Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Flat Bars ?

I am building up a nice 3Rensho, and I am thinking of going with flat bars.
Shifters are still on the down tube(old bike), brake levers would, I guess, be changed to mountain bike type- Paul Levers come to mind. I call it a "City Bike". What I got from it were, agility( flat bar makes it easier to maneuver between cars and quick stop at the same time), little better visibility for cars around me and to myself to look cars around.

I thought about Nitto Moustache handlebars. but I like straight flat bars, I get that with flat bars - they only offer 1 hand position, not the 3 or 4 that drop bars offer. This is my 9th bike in my stable, I thought that I might do something different here.

What other options do I have, if I want to avoid drop bars, and know - but want to pass - on Moustache or Priest Bars ?

The Titec H-Bar looks interesting.

They also make it with a 31.8 clamp diameter without the rise called the J-Bar.

I'm not too sure about that, it's been my experience that flat bars are wider than drop bars, much wider...

I have some flat bars on my fixed and they are definitely my most narrow bars. You can always cut them down. That's what I ended up doing. I think they are like 15'' maybe. I also have risers on the same bike, which put you a little more upright. I like either but right now I'm stuck with the risers as i have a seized and stripped set of bolts in my stem.

You could also consider bullhorns.
I have both these and they are both nice I prefer the ones without the drop I think

Also I've been considering a similar build once I get some spare cash. Post up pics when finished please.
