This thread is exactly why I ride. I love nothing more than the open road on a bike. It heals the soul, and clears the mind.
This is Southeast Michigan, not known for many vantage points to view long open roads. But we do have Kensington Road, just NE from the city of Brighton. Me, before the descent.

This was a few years ago: Route 66 in the California desert.

If I'm understanding correctly, this particular section is now closed starting at about where the low point in the road is, heading on east (towards the camera) and is not expected to re-open anytime soon.
