I wish roads around here had shoulders like that. Most have none and ones that do are never cleaned so end up full of debris, weeds, etc.

There are a few roads in the desert that are like this…..you just need to know where they are and then enjoy riding them. This one is out of Borrego Springs and goes to the Salton Sea.

Truth! This is another part of the Caravelle Ranch WMA. Usually this is the sweet spot of the year to ride back here. The hunters are gone and the summer rains haven't flooded it. However, it has been a wet winter and it was a bit moist.

What's the snow forecast for that area for our big stormy day tomorrow?

Sounds pretty moderate to me...about a foot at the passes and snow levels at around 5k'. The high spot on today's ride was 5k the only snow left on the ground, was in shaded areas on north slopes.

gorgeous. monitor pass? *edit...yah...saw the other thread after my response. have only driven over monitor pass (once but semi-slowly with obvious purpose) to preview. that longish upper, flattish/rolling part is the giveaway.

The 24% sign, I'd recognize that anywhere. That's Ebbetts Pass. Is it already open?

Monitor pass is open. Ebbetts is still officially closed, although the intel is that it's passable by bike to the top. I didn't ride Ebbetts on this ride, I just rode both sides of Monitor.
