Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help me buy my first road bike

I've been riding a single speed for a couple years, but would like to get my first proper road bike. I found this bike at my LBS, I test rode it and it fit pretty well:

2003 OCR 3 frame with 2003 OCR 1 Parts:

derailleur Front: Shimano 105, Rear: Shimano Ultegra
derailleurshifters Shimano Ultegra STI, 9 speed
cranks TruVativ Elita, 30/42/52T
stem Giant Compact adjustable, alloy
headset Integrated 1 1/8"
brakes Tektro Dual Pivot
seatpost Composite micro adjust, 27.2
rims Formula Xero XSR-3 20/24H paired spoke
hubs Alloy 20/24H,QR
tires Michelin Dynamic, 700x 25c
cassette SRAM PG-950 12-26T, 9 speed
spokes Stainless Steel, 14G

The price is $800 CDN. (Can't really compare to prices in the U.S.)
Help? Thoughts?

Yeah, you can get a Defy 2 for near that price brand new. Too much.
