Fat Guys: Where's The Love?

I don't care about zippers, I don't care about pockets, and I don't care about fancy graphics. What does get my attention are jerseys marked XXXL which fit fine in the shoulders, but are otherwise cut 'n stitched for one of you anorexic poster-boys with a 32" waist and V-tapered torso. Get real! If a guy's got XXXL shoulders, you know he's got a gut to match :o

Don't none of us buy $50+ cycling jerseys, just so's we can put 'em up until we lose those extra inches of "offending" avoirdupois flesh.

I'm starting a little company that will sell exclusive, limited-edition jerseys. Not quite ready to announce it yet, but soon.

Post your favorite jersey designs here, with any explanation you may have on why you think it's great. This will hopefully give my designers some creative inspiration.

Thanks.

If they are going to be limited edition, I hope the designs are up to standard. If not it's just going to be Yet Another Jersey, just with lower stock ;)

Good luck, I think there's definitely a market for it!

This is my current fav:

Limited Edition somehow implies that there is some value to these jerseys by nature of there desirability and limited supply. For that to apply, you would expect that they would be designed by an artist of some merit and proven desirability or have some other intrinsic quality. If that's the case, surely your "designers" have some artistry they would like to express. If all you're doing is polling the market to see what people already like and then providing a slightly altered but unimaginative and uncreative alternative, why limit the edition?

Team USA's goose is as good as cooked. Egypt just delayed the inevitable.

Good point. That's not what we're doing. I was just looking to see if there was some common theme to the comments here, or any remarkable design types that the community uniformly praised.

I'll update when the site launches.

That's one place I would advise staying away from!

Well honestly....I'm not a fan of full zip jerseys, and offering only full zip is a mistake IMO. I have Full, 3/4 and 1/2 zips in my closet and the half zips are my favorite. I have zero problems getting a 1/2 or 3/4 zip jersey off after a ride. The full zips always tend to bunch/fold up and are just not my thing, but to each his own. Good luck with the new venture! It would be nice to see well designed jerseys at an affordable price.

i demand to buy the iranian cycling jersey

F4UX3/2 06-19-09 12:52 AM

I would like to tell you about jerseys I hate and why I hate them. Lets start with this:

http://www.scody.com.au/data/images/...-ornge-222.jpg
Jersey's with tribal patterns on them. It screams I gel my hair before I go ride and put NOS energy drink in one of my bottles. I'm not going to buy a jersey that makes me look like one of these guys http://wickedsexywater.com/files/200...66283060_l.jpg
I also hate this jersey:
http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sel...n4_3558279.jpg
Nature scenes... This and others like it should be sold with rainboot shaped shoe covers to complete the cycling napoleon dynamite look it gives off.

what I would like to see:

or any other daft punk related image

ODB. While I doubt there'd be much of a demand I personally would love an ODB jersey

If you make any of these I fully expect you to send me free stuff (I wear a medium).

Pretty sure that guy in the green jersey in the road crash has been reading the 'new to racing' thread. He's not looking back at the crash. Good man, and thorough. Hope he rode for the win.

Metzinger 06-19-09 03:14 AM

It saddens me that people find the image of that accident to be funny.
Is it because it occurred in Mexico?

F4UX3/2, Eljimbarino, really?

F4UX3/2 06-19-09 12:46 PM

oh... I saw that on failblog and thought it was photoshopped, which also means I didn't know it had anything to do with mexico.
