Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Advice on worth of R4000 with Campy Record parts

Hey there folks!
I'm a newbie here and was hoping that I might be able to get some advice from the experts on this forum
I am looking to sell my Cannondale R4000 (CAAD 4 frame, year 2000) that has a Campognolo Record groupset.
I have to sell the bike because I am doing more riding and the frame (54 cm) and crankset are just too big for me and my knees and bike are really starting to feel it.
I originally bought the bike from a guy off of Ebay, hoping that I could fit on it since it was such a good deal. ($1,100.00 and only 500 miles on it)

I am now looking to sell the same bike with about 1000 more miles put on it.

I have an offer from a friend to buy this bike for $1,000.00, but I am wondering if this bike, with its nice Cannondale frame (which is in near perfect condition) and upgraded Record parts is worth more than $1,000. And if so, how much could I realistically get for it on something like Craig's list or ebay?

I've attached pictures in case you want to take a look

Thanks so much for your help!!!!

I wouldn't pay more than $1000. It may be in great shape, but the age of the frame and parts hurts it. Even if you could get $1200 on Ebay, you have to factor in the fees and hassle of packing & shipping and possible headache if it gets damaged during shipping. Take the $1000 and be done.

Bikes: Lots

I agree, if you have a local offer for $1000 I take it quick because getting more on ebay is not likely. Again, due to age of frame and a CAAD4, one CAAD below integrated headsets, plus you don't even have threadless which is odd for a 2000 CAAD4. I bought a 2000 and they came with threadless, and most with 28 spoke open pro or CXP23 wheels. My guess is its a 98 or 99 without looking it up. It also has a corn cob which is a negative because many will need to factor in the cost of a new cassette.

Ah, there we go. The headtube "C" logo is pre-2000. But I don't think CAAD4 came out until '99 with maybe a '98 select preview, and it is CAAD4 because of the seat stays. So its either first release of CAAD4 in 1998 when they released their next frame versions only on the very upper models, or its a 1999.
