Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Which wheel? Hed Ardennes or Fulcrum Zero?

Looking for a quality wheel for both training and racing. Not comfortable with carbon for daily training. Any experience with either Hed Ardennes or Fulcrum Racing Zero?

Serious on bump/question?

I would choose between the two based on rim width. It'll make life difficult to swap between wheels if you have different width rims. HED makes all their wheels with wide rims now.

Ardennes has a wider rim (23 mm I think). Other companies' rims are typically narrower.

This means that if you want to swap out wheels and you're not totally committed to, say, HED's wide rims (and other folks who do wide rims) you'll need to adjust your brakes.

Having gone the HED route recently with one set of wheels, I'll be buying at least two more sets of HED wheels. This way my brakes are okay if I swap wheels.

What weights are posted for these 2 wheelsets? I ride a set of Ardennes and love them. But, for racing I use a set of deep section (50 mm) carbon fiber clinchers for the aerodynamic advantage. For a really nice set of wheels that can be used for training, group rides and some racing, I vote for the Ardennes. But, I've never tried the Fulcrums.

They're close enough weight wise that it doesn't really matter, maybe 100-150g max diff. Fulcrums are nice, just narrower.

I've drank the HED Kool Aid. This morning I ordered a Jet 6 front, Jet 9 rear, and Bastognes to go with the Stinger 6s I got recently. I need to sell off some other stuff now lol.
