Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mavic recommends their own lube for the hub, but where am I going to find that.

What would you recommend?

I've used a light weight (10w) shock oil with good results.

Mavic USA recommends Pedos road Rage.

I have been using both Phil's Tenacious Oil and Pedro's Road Rage for my two sets of Mavic wheels for a long time with excellent results. In fact, I have never bought or used Mavic's Mineral Oil.

never done this before, but mission accomplished, thank you gentlemen

To be honest, it doesn't spin any more freely, but it's clean and much, much quieter.

Q - how often do you do this? annually?

I have about 15-20,000 miles on these wheels, and I was impressed at how clean they were inside. They're cleaner now, but it's not like there was a lot of junk in there.
