Frame Switch! Need help

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So not to long ago i got a 2006 Giant TCR C2. but recently i have been wanting to get a Trek Madone. but back my question..... Is my component group compatible with a madone frame? I;m wanting to just buy a madone frame and switch everything over to it and sell my old frame. Im kinda new to cycling so any help will do. Thanks

Yes, it is compatible, except for maybe the front derailleur and seat post depending on seat tube sizes.

Thanks! and also would this be a dumb idea considering my component group is a mix of ultegra and 105?

Why do you want to swap frames already.

Your money, I suppose. You could probably sell the TCR for a decent amount though.

Do the math.

Try to estimate how much you can sell the existing Giant bike for. Study your local Craig’s List looking for similar bikes. You could also list the bike on CL at a little above market price and consider offers.

Then see if you can find the complete new Madone at the various LBS's. You might find a dealer with a older model he will close out.

Normally it is superior to sell the old complete bike and buy the new complete bike. Usually the new frame is sold at a premium by the manufacturer and your used Giant frame is not going to return much to you.

The cost of switching over the part's is normally $150 or more. Even if you do the work yourself, your time has value and this should not be factored out.
