Knocking Sound - Please help...
I have a "knocking sound" coming out either from the front or rear derailleur or maybe the chain or maybe something else. It only happends when I am on the bike and going at lower speeds with low cadence. When I put the bike on the floor upside down and try to rotate the pedals and shift gears, it is very smooth with no noises. When I simply cruise down without pedaling, same thing - no noises. Basically, it only happens when I am actually on the bike and pedaling...
Did anyone experience something like this? What could it be?
Thank you all for any help or info....

If your shoes are compatible with 2 bolt SPD cleats, and you use a 3 bolt type road cleat, it might be the little metal piece sliding around in it's mounting hole.

sounds similar to my symptons... though it was hardly audible and i could lightly "feel" the knock or ping during pedal. shop determined it was the BB and swapped it. no more knocking

Probably your BB. You probably notice it when you are on the bike because you are putting more weight and pressure on the BB compared to when you turn the pedals with your hands. When mine was going bad I noticed it more when I was going at a lower speed because there wasn't as much road noise to drown it out.
Put your bike on a stand and take the chain off of the chain ring. Put your ear up to your frame and spin the crank. If you hear a crunching/knocking sound then its your BB.
