Factory refurbished Garmin?
See these cheap on Amazon. Search turned up not much, so anyone with any personal experiences? Are they reliable? Warranty means zilch to me as I live in India and anyway cannot avail of any warranty at all.
Secondly, with no India maps available, will it worth it to spend for the 705? I have a 305 and am buying another as my wife wants one. No powertap on my bike either. I see refurbished 705s with cadence and HRM for only a 150 or so more than the 305s , so its tempting.
OTOH, I am seeing refurbished 305s with both cadence and HRM for 170 so thats even more tempting

a majority of factory refurbs are from customer returns.
They work right, but they can't sell them as 'new' since that would be against the law.

I did the same think and I like it but I couldn't register for the warranty because it had been registered by the original owner.

Bought a factory refurb 705 w/ cadence &HR monitor on ebay about a month ago for 300$ shipped. So far, it has been 100% perfect, including several rides in downpours.

The 305 has a design flaw that causes it to shut down on a bumpy road after a few months. The problem is fixable, but the fix voids the warranty because it requires opening up the case. I think a lot of the factory refurbs are returns because of this problem. I'm on my third 305 (the 705 has more functions than I need) and it's a refurb direct from Garmin, and when this one started shutting off it showed evidence that someone had opened it and tried to do the fix.

Thanks guys for the info. The Amazon refurb one is now 230, so any suggestions on which ebay retailer is reliable?

Digital Oasis and Extreme Navigation are the same seller(Verified because I got mine through extreme and my paypal payment had Digital Oasis as the account holder)..... They ship usps priority and buy it now is I think $179 at this time. Got mine for $158 bidding on it. Came with Cadence and HR monitor.

Got my Edge 305 from digitaloasis for $150 with HR and Cadence. I have about 700 miles on it...absolutely no issues with the device at all.
As mentioned, I also couldn't register via garmin.com saying the device was already registered. I will try calling garmin to register directly.

I ordered a refurb 305 from DigitalOasis 2 days ago. I selected the optional free UPS shipping, so my idiot mailman doesn't try to stuff the package in my mailbox. This is a reassuring thread...can't wait to get mine.

My post was intended to compare 205 against 705. Refurb or not. He is from India and he said he doesn't have a powertap and no use for maps, directions nor the Ant+ capabilities, even if it's only 150 dollars more.
If he is stateside, I would suggest to with 750.
