Used shorts or bibs

Ok, I am trying to cut expenses and adjust my lifestyle to be more responsible with my money.

So I was looking on EBay and it looks like I can score USED bibs for 30-40 dollars!

My question: Can I get a disease from wearing used shorts/bibs?

I am over the "gross" idea of my wang being on a chamois that another wang hung out on (pun intended).

If it is medically safe, then I want to save the $$$!

bleach them in hot water and you'll be fine.

and don't start *****ing about how bleaching them will ruin the looks.

if you're cheap enough to shop for used bibs on ebay, you're cheap enough not to care what your hand-me-down chamois looks like.

LOL... Spray down the bibs with lysol, let them dry out for a few days, wash them and you'll be fine. Lysol kills everything.

I think I would rather buy a cheaper set of bibs then someone else's used ones. There has to be a reason they're getting rid of them, and at $30, I doubt it's to make a living from it.

If you do wind up getting them, just be sure to bleach them, several times.

I did the math... On campus, I go take a leak, and 5 guys join the stalls next to me. 4/5 guys, decide not to wash their hands after taking a leak. In the 2 hour period, there will be about 20 guys using the restroom, that's 16 unwashed hands. These guy must leave the building eventually, and there are only four doors available to exit from. The guys must touch the door handle to exit, as must you. The chances of you touching somebodies penis, is well over 80%.

Therefore, used bibs / shorts don't scare me.

Why resort to used:twitchy:
when you can get new?...www.chainreactioncycles.com

buying used shorts/bibs is like buying used underwear.

Haha! I was at work the other day in the bathroom, I hear wiping, flushing, pants zipped and buckled, then the VP storms out of the stall and out into the office, no handwashing! I have shaken his hand many times too :(

Anyone know of a good deal on bibs? I like Pearl Izumi Ultrasensor.

Georgebowen 07-20-09 06:19 PM

Good used bibs go for more than that....

Nothing wrong with used, other than the pads will be worn out and defeat the purpose of getting a nice pair...

best is to find old stock team kits for cheap.

I got a Hincapie jersey/bibs new for $50, and Voler bibs, shorts and jersey for $50 new.

It's worse than that. It's like buying used underwear that's been pressed firmly against someone's nether regions for hour upon sweaty hour.

Urine is sterile, bile is not.

Being frugal is a virtue. Buying someone else's used garments (that have been been pressed firmly against the most intimate of regions) is just plain gross. Do yourself a favor, and spend the extra ten bucks to buy new.

You mean feces is not.

Beware the skidmarked chamois!

Yes, my mistake.

rooftest 07-20-09 06:59 PM

When you bleach the used bibs in hot water, it will destroy them - making them useless and unfit to wear. Problem solved.

Wash your hands and use the paper towel on the door handle. Never ever touch a door handle in a public restroom.

Buy new bibs at Performance on sale.

I'm 99.9% sure it's illegal to send biohazard material without proper packing, documentation, etc. I'm also reasonably sure that there's a good chance that some of those used bibs could be potentially labeled as biohazard (especially if not properly sterilized). It could therefor be said that buying used bibs online is possibly breaking the law.

You know, sometimes it is a lot of work, especially if you've eaten too many clif bars without hydrating

bstern 07-20-09 07:12 PM

I farted pretty bad in my shorts the other day. It was at the end of a very long ride, if you want to imagine what it sounded/felt like. If anyone had heard that fart, they would absolutely not buy those shorts. And yet, there's no way to tell by looking at them (didn't shart). Now, when you bid on those shorts on ebay, just imagine that fart.

Guy from Michigan State and guy from Michigan go to the Men's room. Guy from Michigan heads to the eixt without washing his hands. Guy from State says don't they teach you to wash your hands at Michigan.

Guy from Michigan says they teach us not to piss on our fingers

chinaman_87 07-20-09 07:28 PM

just say no to used bibs. So things you can't cheap out on.
