it does, actually.
I'm slightly sad that I got a 2008 caad9 with the heavy Ultra fork... but not too sad, since I've enjoyed the bike while I've had it. Really? I need to get one of those forks now. That's total bs... I feel so violated.... |

thought the CAAD9's were still being made in the USA for the '10 models... some others are being made overseas though...

WRONG! Cannondales switch alot of there models to be made in taiwan already. Take a fork out of the steerer tube of the new 2010 models and you'll find it says made in taiwan.

I believe for the first half or so of the year they will be made in the USA then production moves over seas to Taiwan by the end of 2010 I believe.

CAAD 9's and other aluminum frames are still made in the US. Production won't be completely outsourced over to Taiwan until 2011, at least from what I've heard.

I paid $1399. It seems that Cannondale always lists this model on their website for $100 more than what the dealers actually sell it for. This is common practice in the bicycle industry.

Im sorry to say but their not. Take a look closer and you'll see the made in taiwan stickers on the steerer on the forks. They already pushed a lot of their models to taiwan to see how well the frame will be built there. Cannondale quoted that their productions will move to taiwan in 2010 but most of the frame are made there already.
Frame != Fork. Okay, so they outsourced the fork already, but the CAAD frame still bears the "Handmade in the USA" decal for the '10 model. Just STFU and let people enjoy it while it lasts. |

I'm pretty sure that all the tubing has always been made in Taiwan, they are simply welded and assembled in the USA.

The rest of the bike clearly is not. |

Show us proof that the entire bike is made in Taiwan right now. And show us proof that there ISN'T a "Handmade in USA" decal on the top tube or anywhere on the frame. I've been working with the 2009 Cannondales for a while and see a "Handmade in USA" decal on every aluminum frame, though I haven't touched a single 2010 frame yet. |
It makes sense that they'd just buy the fork from a taiwanese manufacturer. In fact i'd bet that almost everything excluding the frame is made overseas.

This is the most disappointing thread I've clicked on in a while. Why can people wait a few days to pick up their new bike but can't wait a few days to start a thread about it that actually has pics? :crash:

Good point. So far still no solid proof of a 2010 Handmade in USA CAAD9. Edit: Anyone taking delivery of one, that is. |

You're wrong. We've been over this crap before. The fork isn't the same as the frame. Did I mention that you're wrong? The 2010 frames are made in the US. From the next year on, probably not. It doesn't really matter much to me. They're good frames and they will continue to be good. If the market doesn't like that, then the demand will drop. |
