15 miles with my wife. I'm refereeing ice hockey tonight, tomorrow, and Monday, so a long ride wasn't going to be a good idea!

I did an organized event Ride the Charx. I did the metric and other than the torrential downpour it was great. I don't mind rain but I do have to say that i have never been this wet before. I could feel the water cascading through my shorts on every pedal stroke. All in all it was a great ride.

Did the same route as last Saturday, 78 miles around Central Massachusetts. I like to ride out toward the city of Worcester and do the three different climbs that go to there airport. Great day for a ride, its about time we get some nice summer weather.

Saturday Hump Ride: Figured I'd go with the AA boys (they have AA, A, B, C groups in that bike club on the Sat AM ride), since the harder core Road Nazis were all off racing today. 'This won't be so bad' I thought.
Incorrect.
35 mile ride, avg. speed: 23.7 mph. You know the ride is fast when you think you're going 20 mph in the pace line late in the ride as the pace has backed off, and you look down and the speedo says 25.5. The fastest average speed I've ever heard reported for that course is 24.5, so that ride was pretty fast. That's the fastest I've ever averaged on that particular ride.
I didn't want to go that hard after the knee injection Thursday, but the knee held up fine. 20-22 guys rolled out, 8 of us finished in the lead group (there was nobody in sight behind us), only went into the red zone for 30-60 seconds at the top of the one mile long Ridgebury Road upgrade (calling it a 'climb' is a stretch, but that's where the ride detonates every week).
Those guys should slow the F down.
55 miles in total, including the slog up Mt. Doom, my crankyass right knee handled this all just fine.
That course is hilly by the way, a similar pace on flatter terrain would have been 25+ mph, and that's essentially 8 guys, not a pack. Good workout.

Just moved over here to the Denver area and I have been exploring some of the local routes. Today I did 56 miles with 5200ft climbing including a climb up rt 7 from Lyons. Some big descents over here, I'm used to more switchback type stuff, going to have to change out my 12-27 for something with an 11 on it, I spin the 53-12 out at about 46-47 mph, I can go 50 but it hurts to hold it, well anything over 45mph is tough to maintain.
I am surprised about how many fast guys there are around here, I am used to being one of the fastest guys on the road, but over here finding someone faster than me is a much easier task. Especially on 36 between Boulder and Lyons, the fast guys must go back and forth on that road all day

Next time try the Ward-Lyons loop the other way, the pavement on the St. Vrain is so smooooooth.

I did 63 miles with 6100 feet of climbing, about 15 miles of it on dirt. Had to turn back (and do a different route) instead of doing the planned loop, I guess the fact that the line was marked "Switzerland Trail" should have been a giveaway that it was a MTB trail, not a dirt road. Oops.
Mapmyride fail. Sorry telenick.

Dang, you folks are putting me in my place.
I just got finished with my Sat (evening) ride, and I pushed hard. TT style hard. I was just bragging to my brother about my new best time for this route. I went that hard.
Did I mention I went all out?
21 miles, solo, 750 ft climbing, 18.6 avg. spd.
Then I read this thread.
oh well.

30 miles total around Boulder. I stayed away from 36 and rode to Lafayette and back, then ventured into N. Boulder and back down Broadway through all the construction. I love going out on flat empty roads and seeing how fast I can cruise!
I like riding 36 to St Vrain and also riding up to Jamestown, but the winds on 36 have been burning me out lately.

105 miles solo around Great Sacandaga Lake (foothills of the Adiriondacks) and back. 18.7 average, but those numbers don't mean a lot without factoring climbs, wind, traffic, road conditions, etc...... Averaged just 1 a-hole driver per 100 miles, so I was pretty happy with that.
Twice today I "ran into" a bee/large bug, nearly getting it in the open mouth both times. Never been stung inside my mouth, but I bet it hurts. Good to see the sun out for a whole day for a change after our extremely rainy summer here.

41 miles today. Also did a couple of pulls(steady 25) with wheel suckers behind me. THey were kind enough to say "thanks" when they bailed.Jumped in one of the local peletons as they went by and hung out for 11 miles before I bailed. It was one of those were people were just cutting each other off nasty - hanging on for deal life. You get dropped or crash and they're gone, so I just continued doing a couple of laps around Key Biscayne National Park. Heat and humidity were brutal as always , but the girls in bikini's always help.
tomorrow more of the same. 8^)

Glad you're back on the bike, Daytrip! Best of luck with your continued recovery.
I did the Princeton Free Wheeler's "Event" today. 103 mi., 21.5 mph. We started with a group of about 40, and ended up with about 12-14 in the lead group. A beautiful day on the bike here in NJ.
Edit: And I rode with my wife in the neighborhood for an hour this evening. Lovely.

I extended it out by riding to the ride and back. The day ended with 130.1 miles and a 21.05 mph average. It was a good cruise.

you all that go on longer rides (say 30+ miles), do you go out on long rides both Sat and Sun or do you just use one day as the "real" ride and the other as a recovery?

I'll usually take one long ride (either solo or on the group ride) and then the other day I'll take the kids for a ride around the neighborhood. Good dad time, good recovery, good break for my wife. It's a win-win-win.

It was cooler today - a mere 98° F, with not a cloud in sight. It was also Sea Fair in Seattle, with Hydro racing, Blue Angels and hundreds of boats on Lake Washington, so the traffic out in the hinterlands was pretty light. Got in 58 miles and 2200 feet of climbing in the Snoqualmie Valley, with a stop in Carnation for coffee. Highlight of the day - had to brake for a black bear crossing the road not 20 feet in front of me.

Followed the wife around a 15 mile loop near the house
It has a KILLER hill and several long uphill grades
but we averaged 10mph and I hit 30mph on a good downhill grade
was 85+ degrees but the humidity was up there
It was a good ride ...we had fun
All info was taken from a small bell bike computer

Got 55 miles in this morning solo. Rode mostly tempo with 2500 feet of ascent, so mostly rolling terrain. Did it in 2:45. Was able to get back before the heat hit.

I go hard both days. I just like to. Love the feeling after wards as I'm eating everything on the table the endorphins are kicking in. My legs are mush on Monday though. Tuesday and Thursday ( I go out for a short ride with my friend. Rest on the days in between. About 18 miles at lunch time( real feel in S. Fla is about 104 F) twice a week. We do go fast on those rides. Try to stay around 25 pulling for each other. We just like training hard. Then it's back to the weekend again. 8^)

Whew, I should have taken it easy. After a couple weeks layoff, I didn't think my fitness would be affected, so I went on a 67 mile loop. It was pretty flat, so I really didn't think I'd need much food. Stupid mistake! I was bonking pretty bad, first time I've ever felt so bad I was shaking a bit. Thank God there are some really generous people out there; I stopped by a strangers house to ask for directions (it was a new loop to me and I made a wrong turn); turned out I had gone two cities in the wrong direction! The wife was giving me directions, and the husband turned out to be a cyclist too and gave me some water, and orange, and cookies. It made all the difference in the world, within like 10 minutes the shakes were gone and I made it back to my car.

There was a guy on the River Ride this morning on a Steve Rex track bike motoring along with the group at 30 mph. Asked him afterwards about his gear ratio. He said it was 95 gear inches. Maybe I'll have to try my FG one of these days.
