Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Do you think I would kid around about something as serious as this?

What saddle are you using now? Try something that allows more flood flow like Specialized or Bontrager or something.

LA got a chubby for one of the olsen twins and he spends a lot more time in the saddle than you probably do and it's probably a lot harder to get excited (down there) about an olsen twin than what your hanging around.

cycling isn't the problem. fit, maybe. cycling as a sport, no.

LA and an Olsen Twin? Well, shucks, there goes my erection. And I wasn't that crazy about Cheryl Crow, either.

Question to the OP and others with 'junk' problems:

Are you using good quality bibshorts?

I've never had any of the ed or numbness issues but once I switched to bibs I found my junk to be much more comfortable than just regular shorts. The bib straps seem to hold up and pull front of the chamois to keep all vital bits up and away from the saddle...just my experience anyway.

Since you don't give any history paul i won't attempt an internet diagnosis, also cause then I'd have to bill you. If you haven't seen a urologist by all means do, in a younger person especially, if you problem really is caused by cycling, then in addition to proper fit, some short term viagra may also be helpful, there are instances, especially in younger men, who take viagra and over time the need for it lessens. So suck it up and go to the urologist. If you live in a larger area, maybe call around, see if you can find one who cycles. Good luck. And htfu-literally

It's fairly basic anatomy. In some people the bike seat compresses the pudendal nerve which innervates the genitalia, which can lead to numbness or tingling and even ED. It's a relatively common condition.

With any numbness or tingling I would try a different saddle ASAP. Check out the Selle SMP series. It has a giant center cutout that should take care of any issues down there (if they are saddle related).

You guys gotta quit sitting on your taint. As saddle is made for straddling and your weight should be evenly supported by legs, arms and sit bones. When applying power, legs should be supporting even more.

There's a reason some of us can ride those nasty old leather saddles for 8 hour stretches while others can't handle the same on new wonder saddles...and the reason ain't the saddle (you thought I was gonna plug Brooks, didn't ya ). Yes, get a fit, but it doesn't take a fit session with a pro to fit a bike good enough to keep the boys happy...just takes patience and lots of little teeny tiny tweaks. Repeat as necessary cuz our bodies are not static.

I changed the seat on my original bike to one with center cut out (you know, the hole) and a leather cover, and firm. I think I lucked into one that is just the right width, and I don't get much saddle soreness. i don't ride for that may hours per week though, by far. You might have to try various ones until you by chance find a saddle that is satisfactory, since each person's anatomy is different. As for the saddle you have now, I would discard it or sell it on Ebay. Most likely it is too narrow for you. If you weight more than 170 lbs then that's even more likely.

Look on the bright side... now you're going to be able to focus on your riding exclusively. No more distractions.

If I had gotten ED at age 24, I'm pretty sure I would have killed myself.
