Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2010 Specialized Roubaix Expert

My LBS tells me the 2010 Roubaix Expert will have the new Shimano Ultegra 6700 components. I've read that the new shifters are more amenable to smaller hands, like mine. Doubles should be available mid August and Triples late September.

Anyone have any additional info?

I'm also considering a used 2005 Roubaix based on that year's Ultegra set. As a newbie who's just getting into road biking (updating from 20 yr old hybrid), is is worth paying a bit more than twice as much for a newer frame and component set? I can afford it, but don't want to be stupid either.

I would go with the used bike if it fits. No-one keeps there first bike (or first bike in a while) for very long.
