I was thinking: would it be feasible to get an old tube to be used as a cleat cover for walking around so it doesn't scuff up as much? Idk what kind of glue/bonding would be needed for this, but I would like to try

I do a lot of camping and backpacking and cut into little squares they are the absolute best fire starter there is, and they will even light when wet.

Maybe a larger diameter tube, cut lenghtwise and then to a size that would wrap around your toe. Maybe stiched with a fishingline?

i use them as chain stay protectors. cut to fit and cut them lengthwise, wrap it around your chain stay, and then put as many (or few) zip ties as you want. a lot cheaper than a "lizardskin" type protector, and they keep your frame from getting all dinged up. i also have pieces zip tied on my bike rack, where the derailleur rubs (or would rub, without the tube piece).
i also use them as little gaskets for my water bottle cages, so they don't scratch my frame.

Usually patch and reuse. I wrapped my fixed gear bars with innertubes for good grip in the rain.

As a teenager in the 70's, I once used a tube in place of bar tape. Two pieces per side, with a notch to cover the back of the lever. Very Fred, but all my friends wanted me to setup their bars the same way.

A LBS slides crosscut MTB tubes to hold XC skis together after they've done some work (waxing, stone grinding, etc.) to them.

On last weekend's group ride someone flatted and had a piece of glass they couldn't remove. I gave him a small square of tube to act as a boot and no problems for the rest of the ride.

Take many old innertubes, cut each of them width-wise once so they can be pulled to make one long tube, tape them all together with duct tape, perforate the entire length of your innertube hose as much or as little as you want, stretch one end over a spout or spicket and thread the hose throughout your garden. You have an irrigation system for your garden/plants.
I've never actually done this, but it works well in my mind.
