Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Brooks Swift (How to Mount on Bike?)

Do I mount this saddle on my bike so that it is level? Or should the back be a little higher than the nose?

When sitting on the rails (and compared to my old B17 Standard), the Swift appears to suggest that the back should be higher.

I read your title and all I could think was... the same way you mount any other saddle.

It's all about personal preference, but I found that the brooks seem to like being a little more nose up than others. You might find that you will need to tweak the position every few hundred miles as you break it in as the leather shapes to fit you.

Mine is level also. At first I did have to tilt it up slightly due to it being slick. Once that wore off and I stopped sliding around on it, I leveled it and it's been fine ever since. Great saddle btw.

Thanks for the replies.

One more question: Do I place a level on the very front and back of the saddle (and level the bubble)? Or do I "eyeball" the saddle (placing the bulk of the seat level)?

I've ride on a Swift. Level on a Swift is a very subjective thing since there are no straight lines on the top of the saddle. You have to adjust it by feel. If you are sliding forward raise the nose. You'll get it down in a couple of rides.

I put the level from the front to the back and I have tried level and 1mm down of the nose. I like it nose down very slightly.
