Assos bib Question

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Assos bib Question

Ok, I'm ready to make the plunge and purchase a set of Assos bibs. I'm wondering if it is worth going with the Assos T FI.Mille S5 Bib Short or spend less and buy a pair of Assos T FI.Uno S5 Bib Shorts? Will I notice a difference between the models?

I have both and really can't tell much of a difference. The uno will have more of a race fit. The mille will give you that race fit look, however, not feel as tight (more stretch).

The pad thickness seems pretty much the same on both, except the mille's pad fans out more in the front.

I've used both during rides of 75 miles, or more, without discomfort.

I have two pairs of the FI.Uno and really like both of them. When other bibs cost close to as much, I don't see why not spend a bit more and get Assos. I've only been wearing them for a few months but they are definitely superior to my other bibs.

One question...I got a pair through Ribble Cycles in May and they are great. I got a pair through Wiggle Cycles in August and while the same model, they seem to feel different. Compression is not as good and the material feels thinner, not as nice. Anyone else have this issue?

(I emailed Assos with my ID numbers and am trying to see if they are different model years or what. No reply yet).

OP: only worn the Uno, so can't comment on the Mille. However, I don't wear any of my other bibs anymore, so enjoy whatever pair you get!

I have both. The Mille's are for LD rides. Both are great........I suggest the Uno's to start with to save some $$'s. If you love them, then splurge on the Mille's........if not, you're not out that much money. Best price I found was at https://www.wiggle.co.uk/.
Good luck........

Great, thanks. About to order a pair myself for the long winter miles.

edit: Yeah, that is an awesome price... unbeatable for brand new, and free shipping to USA!

I see you ordered already and they are both great shorts. I have a few Unos and two Milles. I definitely prefer the Mille for longer rides though. I think the chamois is noticeable, and something that others haven't mentioned is that there is a definite difference in construction fabric, especially in the groin area. Let's just say that keeps everything a bit more comfortable for me on those 8 hour plus rides.

If you like the Unos, get a pair of Mille next season. You will love them.
