Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

tree... ok, branch

Stopped for a second alongside the curb on rt28 in Dickerson to wipe my glasses during a 40 mile ride on a beautiful Saturday morning. Heard a thwack when I pulled away like I had kicked up a bit of debris from the curb and it hit my spokes. About 5 miles later, pass a gas station that is a popular rest stop for cyclists and wave to a couple of guys.

"Hey, you are dragging something", one shouts. I say "huh" and glance back and there's this surprisingly large branch hanging on my QR from the rear wheel. I rode 5 miles - uphill, downhill, and I never noticed it. It just cracked me up. I stopped, yanked it out and said to the guys: Hey you should have see the tree after i hit it".

The weather this morning in Maryland was just amazingly perfect. can't wait for tomorrow AM.
